Today I was reading in Psalms after my final in American Literature was over because I finished rater early. I was reading through the first few chapters and a few verses stood out to me. One of them was 1:6 saying, “Certainly the Lord guards the way of the Godly, but the way of the wicked ends in destruction.” It is sad to think that the people who have heard and rejected God do not see that in the ends the have nothing. We spend so much time in this world working for things that are not ours in the first place. When one dies one loses everything if one is not saved by God. If one is saved we gain everything.
In chapter 3 verses 7-12 a small taste of God’s justice is shown to quote from my version “you will die because of your behavior, when his anger quickly ignites.” God is a God over flowing with love, though I think we often forget is has great rage and pain for those against him and sin.
Also something regarding government I believe would be Psalms 2: 1-3 saying, “2:1 Why do the nations rebel? Why are the countries devising plots that will fail? 2:2 The kings of the earth form a united front;
the rulers collaborate against the Lord and his anointed king. 2:3 They say, “Let’s tear off the shackles they’ve put on us!” In the following verses is find it funny that God simply laughs at them.
I think that the best book of Psalms is Psalms 23 saying:
23:1 The Lord is my shepherd,
I lack nothing.
23:2 He takes me to lush pastures,
he leads me to refreshing water.
23:3 He restores my strength.
He leads me down the right paths
for the sake of his reputation.
23:4 Even when I must walk through the darkest valley,
I fear no danger,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff reassure me.
23:5 You prepare a feast before me
in plain sight of my enemies.
You refresh my head with oil;
my cup is completely full.
23:6 Surely your goodness and faithfulness will pursue me all my days,
and I will live in the Lord’s house for the rest of my life.
These are just a few of the verses I love in Psalm; Psalms is one of my favorite books.
